“LET GO TO GET STRONG”
Why your pelvic floor needs length to create strength
Dr. Liz Martin, PT, DPT, MTC, CMTPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy / Manual Therapy Certified / Dry Needling Certified
Liz Dr. Liz Martin was born and raised in Virginia Beach, completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of Virginia where she played Division 1 field hockey, and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine. FL.
Liz owns and is the sole practitioner of The Mama PT, specializing in pregnancy, postpartum, and women’s pelvic health. The Mama PT began in 2020 after nearly 10 years in a hospital-based outpatient clinic working with everything from post-surgical rehab patients to chronic pain, vestibular and concussion conditions, sports injuries, and pelvic health. Liz first learned about pelvic health during PT school while working at Polestar Pilates & Rehab in Coral Gables, FL, but having her first baby in 2015 re-ignited the passion. The pelvic floor seemed to so often be the missing piece in a whole-body picture of orthopedic rehabilitation.
Liz has continued developing advanced clinical skills in the areas of manual therapy, dry needling, Pilates-based rehab, visceral manipulation, and pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercise. In addition to taking her own clients, she works alongside local homebirth midwives at Seven Cities Midwifery in treating every one of their postpartum clients as a part of normal postnatal care.
A wife and mom to three kids, Liz loves being involved in their school and activities, playing tennis, lifting weights, Pilates, and making sourdough. She strongly believes that postpartum is forever and there’s no such thing as “TMI.”
